The new four-figure sponsorship agreement will see the WRMG name alongside the Union’s three senior leagues beginning this month. More than 100 of the best Bradford-area amateur golfers will represent 26 clubs in four man teams throughout the Summer until August.

The sponsorship represents an important cash boost for the Union which has previously included famous golfers such as Rodney Foster and Cec Bloice amongst its players and celebrated its 75th anniversary last year.

WRMG, who also recently sponsored Huddersfield Mini Rugby Festival, operates Toyota dealerships in Bradford, Hudderfield and Keighley near Keighley, and took over the Lexus Bradford franchise last year.

Incoming Bradford Golf Union president Alan Johnson said, “We’re delighted with for WRMG’s involvement. The money received gives us the opportunity to extend our development activities, to the benefit not only of golf within the Union, but to the sport as a whole. We hope it is the beginning of a sustained partnership which benefits both organisations.

“We’re very proud of the high sporting standards we keep, but always flattered when commercial organisations in the area see fit to offer us their support.”

Returning Union League one Champions Baildon have already begun the defence of their title beating Bradford GC 8-0. In addition to the team league titles, WRMG will also be sponsoring a new ‘Player of the month’ award for the individual standout performance in each four-week period. The winner receives a Toyota for a weekend.
